Canon PIXMA MG4240 Wireless Connection Setup and Reset Guide Find instructions on setting up a wireless connection on your Canon PIXMA MG4240 printer and also how to reset the printer to its default settings. Multiple access points (Router or Hub) displaying an automatic connection button labeled “WPS” which stands for Wifi Protected Setup. This allows allowed devices like Cano PIXMA MG4240 to connect to the network without the need to enter a password and this allows the method of connecting devices quickly and easily.

This method is the easiest way to connect Canon PIXMA MG4240 Wireless Printer, And if your access point has a WPS button, select the “WPS Connection Method” tab below for instructions on how to connect using this method.

Canon PIXMA MG4240 Wireless Protected Setup (WPS) Connection Method:

Before we start, there are some requirements that must be met in order to use the WPS push button method, among others:

  • The access point must have an available WPS push button. Please check with your device user guide for details.
  • If the WPS push button is not available, please use the instructions on the Standard Connection Method tab.
  • Your network must use the WPA (Wi-Fi Protected Access) or WPA2 security protocol. Most WPS access points allow the use of this protocol.

Step 1

1. Press the [Home] (A) button on the printer.

Step 2

1. Use the [up / down key] button (A) to select the [WLAN Setup] icon.
2. Press the left function key.
The Wi-Fi (blue) light is on when the wireless connection is enabled.
The printer will now automatically search for access points that support WPS features.

Step 3

The display on the printer should be shown as below
1. Press and hold the [WPS] key on your access point for about 5 seconds, then release it.
For proper instructions on starting WPS on your access point, see the user guide.

2. Press the [OK] button on the printer within 2 minutes.

The Wi-Fi (blue) light on the printer blinks when searching or connecting to the access point.

3. When the screen under [Connected to the access point] is displayed, Press [OK] key to finish setting.
This concludes the WPS setup procedure.

Restores your Canon PIXMA MG4240 network settings back to the factory default settings

If you need to reset your network settings back to factory defaults for example if you change access point, you can do so by following the following instructions:

Step 1

1. Press the [Home] (A) button on the printer.

Step 2
1. Use the [UP / Down Button] (A) button to navigate to [Settings icon].
2. Press the right function key (B).

Step 3

1. Use the [Left Button] button (A) to select [Device Settings].

2. Press [OK] button.

Step 4

1. Use the [up buuton] (A) button to navigate to [LAN
3. Press the set [OK] button.
4. Use the [down button] button (A) to navigate to [Reset LAN settings].
5. Press [OK] button.
6. Use the [down key] key to navigate to [Yes Reset?] Settings
7. Press [OK] button, Wireless LAN settings will now be reset, a message [Processing …. Please wait a moment] will be displayed.
8. Press [OK] button to finish Wireless LAN Reset.
